Reuters: Russia’s latest nuclear submarine, the Imperator Alexander III, successfully test-fired a Bulava intercontinental ballistic missile as part of its final trials before joining the Navy. The test, which took place in the White Sea, saw the missile hit a target on the Kamchatka peninsula thousands of kilometers away. President Putin, emphasizing the importance of Russia’s nuclear deterrent amidst heightened tensions with the West, particularly over the conflict in Ukraine, has been focusing on enhancing Russia’s military capabilities. The Bulava missile, which can be equipped with multiple nuclear warheads and has a range of approximately 8,000 km, is a key component of the country’s naval nuclear forces. The Russian navy currently operates three Borei-class submarines, with several others either undergoing tests or under construction.
