The Guardian: Poland’s President, Andrzej Duda, is set to meet with parliamentary party leaders next week to discuss the formation of a new government. This comes after the ruling nationalist party lost its majority in the general election. Pro-EU opposition parties secured a majority in the election, marking a significant shift in Poland’s political landscape. Duda has invited representatives of various electoral committees to consultations at the Presidential Palace on October 24-25. He had previously stated that he would give the first opportunity to form a cabinet to the group or party that won the most votes. However, with the ruling nationalist party unlikely to secure a third term in government, the leaders of the three parties seeking to form a coalition are urging Duda not to delay his decision. Duda’s aides have indicated that he will make a decision in accordance with the constitution and the will of the citizens, suggesting that the process of forming a new government in Poland could take weeks or even months.
