The New York Times: Ambulances, yellow cabs, and cars arrive non-stop at the entrance of Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza, littered with broken and lifeless bodies. Inside the hospital, staff are trying to treat the wounded, who are crowded into corridors filled with people who have fled their homes and are seeking shelter. Al-Shifa Hospital is the largest medical complex in the Gaza Strip. Many of the limestone villas and high-rise buildings surrounding the hospital in Gaza City’s affluent al-Rimal neighborhood have been reduced to piles of rubble and concrete. The Israeli army claims the area is the financial center of Hamas, making it a target of airstrikes. In addition to the aerial assault on the 140-square-mile Gaza Strip, Israel said it was blocking water, electricity and fuel from reaching the enclave, causing the territory’s only power plant to shut down. Dr. Muhammad Abu Salima, director of Al-Shifa Hospital, said Wednesday that the hospital is operating with 500 beds and has enough fuel to run generators for four days.
