Saturday's earthquake has killed more than 1,000 people | Reuters

BBC: A second earthquake with a 6.3 magnitude has struck western Afghanistan, days after two previous quakes killed over 1,000 people in the region. The latest quake occurred north of the city of Herat, injuring more than 100 people who have since been hospitalized. Many residents were already sleeping outside due to their homes being destroyed in the earlier quakes. Aid agencies report shortages of essential supplies like blankets and food. Eyewitnesses describe scenes of terror, with people fleeing their homes. Afghanistan is prone to earthquakes, particularly in the Hindu Kush mountain range, due to its location near the junction of the Eurasian and Indian tectonic plates.
